The WE CARE Office, in cooperation with the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Physics, with support from the College of Education (CED) and the College of Science and Mathematics, successfully organized the Workshop on Collaborative Teaching with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (ER) at the MSU-IIT CED Amphitheater on August 12, 2025.

The workshop gathered 75 participants, including MSU-IIT faculty, staff, and Master of Science in Physical Education students, as well as participants from MSU-Naawan, MSU-Maigo School of Arts and Trades, the Department of Education, and Youngster Christian Learning Place.

The event was graced by Prof. Naoki Suzuki from Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan, who delivered an insightful lecture on integrating VR technology and AI applications into classroom settings. Prof. Suzuki highlighted how these innovations can improve teaching strategies, engage learners, and enhance overall learning outcomes. He also provided real-world examples of their successful implementation in various educational contexts.

The significant highlight of the workshop was the hands-on demonstration, where participants experienced firsthand the use of VR headsets and AI-powered tools. Faculty members, staff, and students explored immersive virtual learning environments, simulated experiments, and collaborative teaching scenarios—allowing them to see how such technologies could be applied in their own classes.

Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education, Dr. Harlyn Mae S. Ompoc, said, “Experiencing AI and VR firsthand opened our eyes to how technology can transform the way we teach and learn.”

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to advancing innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in education. By enabling educators to directly engage with AI and ER technologies, the workshop aimed to open new possibilities for creating dynamic, future-ready classrooms at MSU-IIT.
