TWO new virtual reality headsets are set to bring immersive learning to classrooms around the world.

Avantis Education, based in Quedgeley, has launched the Xcelerate and Xplorer headsets as part of its latest ClassVR hardware suite.

These devices are designed to deliver advanced virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) experiences for students from primary school to further education.

Gillian Rhodes, chief marketing officer at Avantis Education, said: „Everything about Xcelerate has been designed with education in mind – like all our ClassVR solutions.

„That means putting the student front and centre with ergonomics and experience, and ensuring it’s a plug-and-play technology that teachers feel confident to deploy and manage in the classroom.“

The Xcelerate headset is aimed at high school and further education students.

It features six-degrees-of-freedom tracking and a 90-degree flip visor for easy transitions between virtual and real-world activities.

The Xplorer headset, designed for younger learners, includes a 4K Ultra-HD display and improved audio for more engaging lessons.
