Who says you need a spaceship to explore the stars or a submarine to dive beneath the sea? For two unforgettable days on 26 and 27 May, learners at Boshoek Primary School embarked on breathtaking journeys across the globe — and beyond — using virtual reality (VR) technology.

Thanks to the vision and initiative of Foundation Phase teacher Keotshepile Senokwane, learners from Grade R to Grade 7 were treated to an interactive, immersive VR experience that brought learning to life. With the help of a passionate team of VR education facilitators and the technical support of Mr Kekana, one of the school’s IT-savvy teachers, the school hall was transformed into a digital wonderland. From swimming with sea creatures to walking on the moon, our learners experienced lessons unlike anything they’d seen before. Many were using VR headsets for the very first time — and the excitement on their faces was priceless.

“The aim was not just to entertain,” Ms Senokwane shared, “but to expose our children to future-facing tools that make education exciting and accessible. In a world driven by innovation, we believe every learner deserves this kind of exposure.” We hope this story inspires other schools and educators to dream boldly and teach creatively. Because when it comes to learning, the sky is no longer the limit.
